How much can a family forgive?

A profoundly moving novel about two neighboring families in a suburban town, the bond between their children, a tragedy that reverberates over four decades, the daily intimacies of marriage, and the power of forgiveness.

Francis Gleeson and Brian Stanhope, two rookie cops in the NYPD, live next door to each other outside the city. What happens behind closed doors in both houses—the loneliness of Francis’s wife, Lena, and the instability of Brian’s wife, Anne—sets the stage for the explosive events to come.

Another read to sit back and let it slowly burn into your heart. Two families of friends collide in an all engrossing tail of mental illness, selfishness, addiction, loss, and of course, love.

I felt connected to each character narration and it was apparent the more I read that the author was building to something much bigger than circumstances. I was thankful to see that was true, yet I didn’t expect quite the extreme tragedy that did occur, so that was an added aspect.

The love story in this is really the true focus, although, it is more about how love can overcome tragedy rather than love being built upon it.

Deep thinker and many of us agree it is one of the best 2019!
